ABOUT US
Started in 2005 in response to a vision for a community-wide volunteer organization,
the Club (SP&GC) incorporated as a public charity in 2006. We began by doing litter pickups,
planting flowers for the city and school system, and cleaning/brightening up
the front landscapes of needy residents. Clearing and mapping of city park trails,
a Horticultural Enrichment program, and the “Fine Place Award” were
added during the year. In 2008 we started the Emmanuel Community Farm, an organic
all-volunteer garden to feed the hungry.

Our membership reflects a wide cross-section of people within and outside of the city.
We currently have about 27 members and 45 volunteers. SP&GC has monthly
meetings, on the second Wednesday, March through November, at 7 pm, in the Parks and
Recreation building at the Southfield Civic Center. Club dues are $25
per season, or $100 lifetime. We do not have minimun hour requirements - you can
do whatever feels right for you.

Most everything the Club does has something to do with the earth and land around us.
We are not your everyday garden club. We are a true charity and community
service organization, helping those around us who are in need. Please think about
volunteering, joining the Club, or sending in a donation.
