9/19/09 - A lot of water under the bridge since our last update.  We gave a status update to the Southfield Parks and Recreation Board this week - even though we are not connected to the city, we hope for support.  Over 300 pounds of wholesome vegetables have been delivered to Forgotten Harvest.  Our information table at Autumnfest on Sept. 12 was visited by quite a few people.

Important Dates:

Wednesday, October 14 - our next and LAST
Club meeting of the year.

8/3/09 -  There is a lot going on! We are up to 91 pounds of produce picked at the Farm, and we are just getting into the season for tomatoes, cuc's, and others.  We have scheduled an Open House at the Farm for Sunday, August 23, from 1 to 4pm.

6/23/09 -  Five CHORE homes have been completed, with more to go.  Get in touch soon if you would like to help.  The Garden walk is only about a month away and there will be an organizational meeting July 1st at the Magnolia Center, at 6:30pm.  Tickets are now on sale at the Neighborhood Information Desk in the lobby of City Hall.  We'll be starting to harvest this week at the Farm - pea-picking and such.

6/10/09 -  We have a Southfield Parks and Garden Club meeting tonight - 7pm at the Civic Center, as usual.  Our speaker will give a presentation on composting.  We completed our first two CHORE homes last week.   Everything is planted at the farm, we just need to finish up the irrigation.

5/16/09 - We had Carol Lenchek speak at Wednesday's meeting - an informative discussion about judging vegetables and flowers at exhibitions.  Ken Siver gave an update on the 2009 Garden Walk.  It seems that there are quite a few interesting yards in the Magnolia Neighborhood and Northland Gardens. Click on the "Garden Walk" button above for more information. We are also set to do the first 12 CHORE homes. The Emmanuel Community Farm is rolling right along, and we still need donors and volunteers.  Come and visit!

4/16/09 - Volunteer Day will be the day after tomorrow - so gear up!!  We have a date for the Southfield Garden Walk - Sunday JULY 26th.  More information and tickets will be available soon, but be sure to SAVE THE DATE!!!

4/9/09 - Things are popping up all over!! It must be Spring!  We reviewed the first 12 Chore jobs last night, discussed Volunteer Day (be sure to call Ollie Colvard at 248 746-7601 to register), Flower Day (now May 30), and other Club business.  Barbara S., Odette, Faye, Laura, Ken, Elaine, Sharon H., Bradley, and Sharon R. were there.  Regarding the Farm, we've had over 90 volunteer hours from 19 volunteers in the first two weeks - very encouraging progress.

4/7/09 - We have a club meeting tomorrow, Wednesday the 8th.  After that, Volunteer Day will be Saturday, April 18th, with sign-in at Brace-Lederle K-8 school on 9 Mile just west of the Southfield X-way.
